Alex w grouseAs a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A:  When I was young, I always wanted to play baseball for the Dodgers.  As I grew older, I decided that I would follow in my mother and grandmother’s footsteps and be a teacher.

What was your first job?

A:  When I was 15, I worked for one summer on a used car lot.  I changed oil, did some small repairs and did a lot of car washing.

Is there a build or project that you are most proud of? Why?

A:  In 2023 I did a complete gut and remodel on a mobile home located in Missoula, MT.  Although this project was a ton of work, and didn’t make a huge profit, we were able to take a rundown housing unit bound for the landfill, and turn it into a beautiful home with some very unique artistic touches.  To keep this home out of the landfill and add one more affordable housing unit back to the community was very rewarding.

What is your favorite sport to play or watch?

A:  Rugby!  I play for the Missoula Maggots/Flies (old Maggots 35+ become Flies) and I love to watch rugby as well, the Harlequins FC of the English Premiership is my favorite team.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A:  Pizza, unoriginal, but I’ve never met a slice I didn’t like.

Glass half full or half empty?

A:  Always half full!

What advice would you give someone who wants to start a career in construction?

A:  Be brave and dive right in.  A career in construction can lead to thousands of different roles and opportunities.  Everyone starts out a little nervous on day one, but most builders are eager to teach and love answering questions.

What is your favorite construction trades skill/topic to teach?

A:  Curiosity.  Every person in the trades needs to stay curious, ask questions and always be looking for new learning opportunities.

What is your favorite tool that’s stocked in the Mobile Training Unit?

A:  The circular saw, oscillating multi tool, and of course a good hammer.  With these 3 tools, we can do anything.

How can folks get a hold of you if they’re interested in bringing Job Site Ready to their community?

A:   I can be reached at alex.fregerio@mso.umt.edu
