In partnership with JSR and Denman Construction’s apprenticeship program we have been able to streamline what we once called the two week “Foundation” classes to utilizing the Job-Site Ready micro-credential program. This cut down the time we had to do in class knowledge-based learning as our apprentices could do the work online through the modules that also included great accompanying video content. We then met to do construction practical lessons in our Denman yard to go over hand and power tool use as well as some basic building construction carpentry methods in framing and exterior finishes. At Denman Construction we see the JSR as an excellent starting point and spring board as apprentices embark into our 5200 hour apprenticeship program in Residential Carpentry.

For me, Job Site Ready was an interesting balance between the classroom and work place. The combination of written materials and videos coupled with “hands on” training by an experienced instructor kept me engaged.
